Here’s a new project to easily turn a Raspberry Pi into a controller for motors and sensors using the LEGO Mindstorms platform.

You have to browse around their site a bit, and you do have to source your own circuit board (which may be the project’s downfall) but it looks like it could be a fun way to build robots.
