Cambridge #RaspberryPi Jam – provisional date announced – 18th May – call for speakers

I (wisely or not!) have volunteered to organise the next Cambridge Raspberry Jam in the hope of energising the local Raspberry Pi community.

At the moment, I am trying to secure a venue for the afternoon of the 18th May for around 30-40 people. This will let us see how much demand there is for Jams in the area in advance of organising a much larger event for the middle-end of September.

With 18th May in mind, I’d like to see who out there would like to present something at the Jam. I’m hoping for a number of short presentations (10 minutes max) on a variety of topics, from software writing to hardware tinkering.

In particular, I’d like to hear from anyone who can present a project written with the Scratch graphical programming language. 18th May is World Scratch Day and it’d be great to tie in with that.

The exact format of the Jam will depend on who wants to be involved, which will hopefully make it a true community-driven event!

  1. I think I’m free that day Mike. I could bring the Wii-Gertboard demo or something else I can’t talk about yet 😉 Are you sure 40 will be enough? I thought Cambridge Jams were usually quite big?

    • Fantastic stuff 🙂
It wasn’t possible to organise something larger for May – too short notice and not enough volunteers to help run the thing. So, I’m hoping that the smaller-scale one will provide a jumping-off point for the larger one in September which will (hopefully) be a Jamboree-sized event.

    • Just realised… we could have a Wii marathon at this rate – I’m working on Wii controller, 2 servos on 2 axis for a camera mount 🙂

      • I’ve found out how to specify the MAC address on the Wii controller, so we’ll be OK. My other “secret” project might make use of a Wii controller too – if it goes well. 😉

  2. I’ve moved a family visit from that day so I can come. I’ve started building the box for the media centre – although the last but one cut wend wrong so I have to remake that bit 🙁 So my little toy will be there.
