So, I decided to write over the SD card containing RiscOS.<\/p>\n<p>I tried using WinImage but for some reason the card refused to write. I had a\u00a0<em>lovely<\/em> cyclic redundancy check error and the SD card was reporting the wrong amount of space free.<\/p>\n<p>I tried using the Disk Management tool in Windows but it wouldn&#8217;t let me expand the primary partition to the full space.<\/p>\n<p>I found this tutorial about using DiskPart to reset the card:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ampercent.com\/recover-lost-space-removable-usb-drive\/9352\/\">Recover Missing Unallocated Space On USB Drive Using Windows DiskPart<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In short:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Windows-R and type DiskPart in the &#8216;Open&#8217; box.<\/li>\n<li>This will bring up a DOS box with DiskPart running in it.<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8216;list disk&#8217; and look for the disk that resembles your SD card. (For this tutorial, we&#8217;ll assume it&#8217;s Disk 1)<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8216;select disk 1&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>BE REALLY SURE YOU WANT TO WIPE THE CARD.<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8216;clean&#8217;. This resets the disk.<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8216;create partition primary&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8216;exit&#8217; to quit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ampercent.com\/recover-lost-space-removable-usb-drive\/9352\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/recover-space-usb-drive-diskpart1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can now go into Windows Explorer and Format the SD card before writing your image to it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used RiscOS for a couple of days and then decided it wasn&#8217;t nearly as useful as Linux.
