The new release contains:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/archives\/4906\">Sonic Pi<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Improvements to Scratch<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/pypy.org\/\">PyPy 2.1<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Pi-Face libraries<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/archives\/4920\">Oracle Java Development Kit<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This last item adds masses to the distribution and so the install now requires a 4GB SD card. Hopefully not too many people will have 2GB cards that are rendered useless&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Plus! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/archives\/4863\">NOOBS 1.3<\/a> is now out of beta and includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to install multiple OSes on a single card (presumably a big whopper of a card!)<\/li>\n<li>Support for network installation of OSes from the Foundation&#8217;s repository<\/li>\n<li>Multiple flavours of Raspbian including one which boots directly into Scratch.<\/li>\n<li>Improved integration of language, keyboard and display settings between NOOBS and guest operating systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The distros are available to download, as usual, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/downloads\">from the Foundation website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/archives\/4959\">New Raspbian release, and NOOBS v1.3 goes gold | Raspberry Pi<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A much-improved and much-enlarged version of Raspbian is now the standard install for download from the Foundation&#8217;s site.
