I&#8217;d tried using Angry IP Scanner but, for some reason, this failed to work. After a little Googling, I found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/phpBB3\/viewtopic.php?f=31&amp;t=32460\">this answer on the Raspberry Pi forums<\/a> from well-known Pi guru <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.drogon.net\/\">Gordon Henderson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This only works from Linux, but is useful to know:<\/p>\n<p>If e.g. your LAN is 192.168.254.0\/24 then create a bash script:<\/p>\n<pre>#!\/bin\/bash\n# findPi:\n#\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Find all Pi's on the LAN\n\nfping -a -r1 -g 192.168.254.0\/24\u00a0 &amp;&gt; \/dev\/null\narp -n | fgrep \" b8:27:eb\"<\/pre>\n<p>This produces:<\/p>\n<pre>192.168.254.30\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0ether\u00a0 \u00a0b8:27:eb:a5:16:f6\u00a0 \u00a0C\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0eth0\n192.168.254.33\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0ether\u00a0 \u00a0b8:27:eb:94:39:fd\u00a0 \u00a0C\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0eth0\n192.168.254.31\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0ether\u00a0 \u00a0b8:27:eb:87:37:da\u00a0 \u00a0C\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0eth0<\/pre>\n<p>This works because all Pis have MAC addresses beginning with b8:27:eb (this info also found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/phpBB3\/viewtopic.php?f=31&amp;t=32460\">Raspberry Pi forum thread<\/a>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was at work running a Pi headless&#8230; And I realised I had no way of knowing what the IP address was.
