I&#8217;ve checked back this morning and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/qualifications\/by-subject\/ict\/raspberry-pi\">they&#8217;ve doubled the number of documents available<\/a>. The new documents are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/images\/125879-getting-started-tutorials.pdf\">A comprehensive Getting Started guide and tutorial<\/a>. (This is perfect for beginners, regardless of whether they&#8217;re in education or not!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Two &#8220;recipe cards&#8221; which are essentially very small, quick projects.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/images\/125880-recipe-card-flashing-led.pdf\">Flashing LED<\/a> (done without a breadboard, which isn&#8217;t the best idea, but hell, it works!)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/images\/125881-recipe-card-singing-jelly-baby.pdf\">Singing Jelly Baby<\/a> &#8211; play a sound when you squeeze a jelly baby. (This sounds nuts, but apparently is a party trick for the Foundation&#8217;s techies. <strong>I<\/strong> think there is a picture missing of how to put the paper clips in, so I&#8217;m not sure how much use it will be).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Classroom Challenge: Hardware Characteristics &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/Images\/125874-classroom-challenge-hardware-characteristics-learner-sheet.pdf\">learner<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/Images\/125875-classroom-challenge-hardware-characteristics-teacher-sheet.pdf\">teacher <\/a>worksheets taking you through various aspects of hardware. Quite tricky, this one.<\/li>\n<li>Classroom Challenge: Hardware Hacking and Robotics &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/Images\/125877-classroom-challenge-hardware-hacking-and-robotics-learner-sheet.pdf\">learner<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/Images\/125878-classroom-challenge-hardware-hacking-and-robotics-teacher-sheet.pdf\">teacher <\/a>worksheets using the PiFace add-on board. (This is the &#8216;fun&#8217; one, of course, but the <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.farnell.com\/jsp\/search\/productdetail.jsp?sku=2218566#\">PiFace isn&#8217;t exactly cheap at \u00a320<\/a>. Some of the photos on this one are a bit &#8216;muddy&#8217;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I commend OCR for continuing to release these tutorial sheets. They&#8217;re well-produced (okay, some of the photos could be better) and cover a lot of the basic projects you would want to undertake. In fact, any beginner would benefit from working through the sheets, even if they&#8217;re not a teacher or a pupil.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll keep an eye out for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocr.org.uk\/qualifications\/by-subject\/ict\/raspberry-pi\">more material being released<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of weeks ago, I blogged that OCR had released a batch of rich, educational material for teachers to use in their ICT lessons.
