Recently, Martin repurposed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/1970-Flirt-Pi-Internet-Radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1970s transistor radio to create an internet radio<\/a>. This inspired me to look around to see what I could find to do something similar.<\/p>\n<p>I came across a radio from 1996 on eBay \u2013 an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiomuseum.org\/r\/roberts_r757.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">R757<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiomuseum.org\/dsp_hersteller_detail.cfm?company_id=3884\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Surrey-based manufacturer Roberts<\/a>, who are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertsradiotechnical.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">now based in the West Midlands<\/a>. I refurbished it physically and then took the insides out, replaced them with a Raspberry Pi Zero and a Pimoroni pHAT Beat audio board and wrote some software to turn it into my own internet radio.<\/p>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?page_id=20188\">read the full build details and more about the software on this page<\/a>.
