Aimed mostly at the industrial market, this HAT uses the extra 4-pin header on the 3B+ to receive the power from the cable and includes a fan for cooling.<\/p>\n<p>However, users of the HAT have quickly encountered problems and have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/forums\/viewtopic.php?f=45&amp;t=220984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported them on the Raspberry Pi Forums<\/a>. The problems have boiled down to under-powered USB ports when using the HAT. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2018\/09\/11\/raspberry_pi_poe_hat_issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with The Register<\/a>, Eben Upton of Raspberry Pi Trading has explained the cause of the problems and why they were not picked up during the (apparently limited) testing.
