Aimed at providing a common interface for various non-web-enabled wireless devices to get them onto the internet, the Things Gateway is fully open-source and is an implementation of a &#8220;Web of Things&#8221; gateway.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the gateway supports Zigbee and Z-Wave smart plugs, but other devices should be supported soon. You will need a\u00a0<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.digi.com\/products\/xbee-rf-solutions\/boxed-rf-modems-adapters\/xstick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.digi.com\/products\/xbee-rf-solutions\/boxed-rf-modems-adapters\/xstick\">Digi XStick<\/a>\u00a0(ZB mesh version) for ZigBee support, and the\u00a0<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/aeotec.com\/z-wave-usb-stick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"http:\/\/aeotec.com\/z-wave-usb-stick\">Aeotec Z-Stick<\/a>\u00a0(Gen5) for Z-Wave\u2014although other\u00a0<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/OpenZWave\/open-zwave\/wiki\/Controller-Compatibility-List\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/OpenZWave\/open-zwave\/wiki\/Controller-Compatibility-List\">OpenZWave compatible dongles<\/a>\u00a0may also work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iot.mozilla.org\/wot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The API documentation is available here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hacks.mozilla.org\/2017\/06\/building-the-web-of-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mozilla&#8217;s official announcement is here<\/a>\u00a0and you can <a href=\"http:\/\/iot.mozilla.org\/gateway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download a pre-configured OS image here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mozilla have just announced the launch of the Things Gateway.
