For the competition, the used a laser timing rig to record the exact lap times of each robot. They also used a similar method at <a href=\"http:\/\/piwars.org\" target=\"_blank\">Pi Wars<\/a> for the <a href=\"http:\/\/piwars.org\/2017-competition\/challenges\/straight-line-speed-test\/\" target=\"_blank\">Straight Line Speed Test<\/a>. They&#8217;ve now blogged about both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formulapi.com\/blog\/laser-timing-rig\" target=\"_blank\">hardware<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formulapi.com\/blog\/laser-timing-rig-sw\" target=\"_blank\">software<\/a> parts of the rig.
