These cameras, which are direct drop-in replacements for the old ones (i.e. they have the same ribbon cable connector) feature new\u00a0Sony IMX219 sensors. They still have fixed-focus lenses, but this time they are capable of taking still pictures at\u00a03280 x 2464 pixel resolution. They also support\u00a0<span class=\"ln l\"><span class=\"fh\">1080p30, 720p60 and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"ln l\"><span class=\"fh\">640x480p90 video recording. The cameras are available in two flavours:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thepihut.com\/products\/raspberry-pi-camera-module\" target=\"_blank\">Standard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thepihut.com\/products\/raspberry-pi-noir-camera-module\" target=\"_blank\">NoIR<\/a> &#8211; a &#8220;night-vision&#8221; camera which has no IR filter on the lens.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re available from all good Pi resellers for around \u00a321-\u00a325 including <a href=\"https:\/\/thepihut.com\/search?type=product&amp;q=camera+v2\" target=\"_blank\">The Pi Hut<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.pimoroni.com\/collections\/raspberry-pi\/products\/raspberry-pi-camera-module-v2-1-with-mount\" target=\"_blank\">Pimoroni<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pi-supply.com\/?s=camera+v2&amp;post_type=product&amp;tags=1&amp;limit=5&amp;ixwps=1\" target=\"_blank\">Pi Supply<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.element14.com\/community\/docs\/DOC-81672\/l\/new-pi-camera-and-pi-camera-noir-v2\" target=\"_blank\">Element 14<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Eames at RasPi.TV has taken a look at the standard camera and his <a href=\"http:\/\/raspi.tv\/2016\/new-8-megapixel-raspberry-pi-camera-2-1-launches\" target=\"_blank\">video can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is great news for those who like the camera &#8211; a simple upgrade from the end-of-line original that you can &#8216;just use&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, two new cameras for the Raspberry Pi were released.
