{"id":14105,"date":"2016-01-27T15:58:55","date_gmt":"2016-01-27T14:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?p=14105"},"modified":"2016-01-27T15:58:55","modified_gmt":"2016-01-27T14:58:55","slug":"raspio-pro-hat-new-reward-level-launched-for-raspberry-pi-add-on-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?p=14105","title":{"rendered":"RasPiO Pro Hat &#8211; new reward level launched for Raspberry Pi add-on board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ksr-ugc.imgix.net\/assets\/005\/173\/232\/f70a581c306ce0d7a02d290dbc911f6d_original.jpg?resize=560%2C425&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alex Eames has just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/raspitv\/raspio-pro-hat-protect-position-raspberry-pi-ports\/posts\/1468822\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a>\u00a0a new reward level for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/raspitv\/raspio-pro-hat-protect-position-raspberry-pi-ports?ref=raspberrypipod\" target=\"_blank\">RasPiO Pro Hat Kickstarter<\/a> and I just thought I&#8217;d bring it to your attention.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In case you missed it<\/strong>, the Pro Hat is a great new plug-in board for the Raspberry Pi that breaks out all the GPIO pins to female headers, in numerical order (using the BCM numbering scheme) and provides a mini-breadboard on which you can prototype circuits. All the ports are protected so that you can connect things up incorrectly and still not injure your Pi.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The new reward level is \u00a325,\u00a0is called the <strong>GPIO Zero Experimenter&#8217;s Kit<\/strong> and includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The RasPiO Pro Hat itself<\/li>\n<li>Five 10mm LEDs<\/li>\n<li>MCP3008 ADC chip<\/li>\n<li>TMP-36 temp sensor<\/li>\n<li>1-channel relay<\/li>\n<li>PIR motion sensor<\/li>\n<li>10k potentiometer<\/li>\n<li>40-way male header<\/li>\n<li>20 M-M jumper leads<\/li>\n<li>20 M-F jumper leads<\/li>\n<li>Piezo buzzer<\/li>\n<li>Large button<\/li>\n<li>10k resistor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ksr-ugc.imgix.net\/assets\/005\/258\/383\/870d7730885c612e3466c3ff52f30749_original.JPG?resize=560%2C411&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"411\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great bundle of goodies and will really show off the capabilities of both the Pro Hat and also Ben Nuttall&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?p=14019\" target=\"_blank\">GPIO Zero library<\/a>\u00a0(I recently came to understand the benefits of the library &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?p=13787\" target=\"_blank\">read about that here<\/a>). It includes an analog-to-digital converter chip (the good ol&#8217; MCP3008) and both a potentiometer and an analog sensor (TMP-36) to get you going in the analog world. It&#8217;s nice to see the <strong>big\u00a0<\/strong>LEDs making an appearance and Alex plans on some instructions\/tutorials to help you get the most out of the components, including the relay board (which is a mystery to me, so I&#8217;m looking forward to that one!). It&#8217;s these instructions that really add value to the package &#8211; Alex has got a great writing style and goes into a lot of detail with these things, so it&#8217;ll definitely be &#8216;worth having&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/raspitv\/raspio-pro-hat-protect-position-raspberry-pi-ports?ref=raspberrypipod\" target=\"_blank\">So, if you haven&#8217;t backed yet, or if you&#8217;d like to change your pledge, head over to the Kickstarter<\/a><\/strong>.
