As you should all know by now, the Raspberry Pi 2 was launched at 9am\u00a0today by Eben Upton at a press conference at The Shard in London. I hope to bring you a recording of that press conference at some point, but\u00a0currently the Element 14 site, where the press\u00a0conference was streamed, is up and down like a yo-yo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.recantha.co.uk\/blog\/?p=11881\" target=\"_blank\">You can read my announcement of the launch here<\/a>\u00a0and here is my own video walk-around of the board.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Raspberry Pi 2 model B - a quick introduction\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dvBJrUjTyFE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, here is the pick of today&#8217;s coverage:<\/p>\n<h2>Raspberry Pi Foundation<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/raspberry-pi-2-on-sale\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here&#8217;s the official announcement made by Eben on the website this morning<\/a>. Their website has been struggling a bit so you might find it either comes up slowly or in maintenance mode. Either way the blog post should be visible.<\/p>\n<h2>RasPi.TV<\/h2>\n<p>Alex Eames has done a great walk-around video and blog coverage. His video includes a side-by-side comparison between the Pi 2 and B+. As always, Alex&#8217;s enthusiasm for the Pi comes across and it&#8217;s a great fact- and demonstration-based video.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/raspi.tv\/2015\/raspberry-pi-2-the-new-quad-core-a7-pi2\" target=\"_blank\">Read and watch it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Raspberry Pi Guy<\/h2>\n<p>Matthew Timmons-Brown has done a slightly longer video with more background detail of the history of the Pi. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Xo8RT8Wpv6w\" target=\"_blank\">Watch it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Make<\/h2>\n<p>Alasdair Allan has written a piece over on Make in which he interviews Eben Upton about the new board &#8211; well worth a read if you want more technical detail about the new board. <a href=\"http:\/\/makezine.com\/2015\/02\/02\/eben-upton-raspberry-pi-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Russell Davis<\/h2>\n<p>Russell has got some very specific uses for a Pi, such as writing COBOL on it (!) and has been putting the Pi 2 through its paces. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.russelldavis.org\/2015\/02\/02\/raspberry-pi2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read about his experiences here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>BBC<\/h2>\n<p>Rory Cellan-Jones interviewed Eben Upton on camera and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-31091283\" target=\"_blank\">you can watch the video here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just doing a quick update at lunchtime on this fantastic launch day.
