Here&#8217;s what\u00a0New Scientist has to say about this incredible project:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It aims to simulate the physical and psychological effects of the early stages of Parkinson&#8217;s disease by taking inspiration from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg20127002.900-body-illusions-body-swap.html\">body illusions<\/a>, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/dn20599-muscles-play-a-part-in-the-rubber-hand-illusion.html\">rubber hand trick<\/a>, in which the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/dn23757-expectation-alone-turns-a-rubber-hand-into-a-real-one.html\">brain accepts a fake limb<\/a> as its own.<\/p>\n<p>To create the sensations, you wear a glove fitted with a motorised device, while looking at a screen you hold in the other hand. The device recreates tremors running at 6 hertz, which is the upper limit of those experienced by people with Parkinson&#8217;s disease.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They researched the sensations experienced by Parkinson&#8217;s sufferers by working closely with a neuroscientist at Royal Holloway and was developed using low-cost technology.
