The Raspberry Pi Foundation are <a href=\"\/blog\/?p=10572\">already working on their own one<\/a>, although we don&#8217;t know what it is, and now both Adafruit and Dtronixs have thrown their hat into the ring (sorry, couldn&#8217;t resist).<\/p>\n<p>HATs announced from Adafruit so far are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/11\/perma-proto-hat-new-feature-hat-a-day-a-raspberry_pi-hat-we-sent-off-for-prototype-pcbs-for-testing-hataday\/\" target=\"_blank\">A perma-proto board for prototyping<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/12\/ultimate-gps-pi-hat-hat-a-day-a-raspberry_pi-hat-we-sent-off-for-prototype-pcbs-for-testing-hataday\/\" target=\"_blank\">A GPS-enabled board<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/13\/2-2-tft-pi-hat-a-raspberry_pi-hat-we-sent-off-for-prototype-pcbs-for-testing-hataday\/\" target=\"_blank\">A board with an embedded 2.2&#8243; TFT<\/a>\u00a0(a bit like the PiTFT, but as a GPIO board)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/14\/arcade-pi-hat-a-raspberry_pi-hat-we-sent-off-for-prototype-pcbs-for-testing-hataday\/\" target=\"_blank\">An Arcade HAT<\/a>, which one\u00a0would imagine is a rudimentary games controller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/blog\/?s=%23hataday\" target=\"_blank\">You can follow Adafruit&#8217;s HAT-a-Day blog by visiting this page.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zuzebox.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/rpib_hats_small.jpg?w=300&#038;h=189&#038;fit=300%2C189&#038;resize=300%2C190\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also in contention for first HAT release is Newcastle-based Dtronixs. <a href=\"http:\/\/zuzebox.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/14\/hats-on-for-raspberry-pi-b\/\" target=\"_blank\">They&#8217;ve announced\u00a0the following<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UserPort\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0a mimic of the BBC\u2019s micros digital User Port and Analogue Port. Digital I\/O is provided by a I2C MCP23017 16-channel Port Expander and Analogue Inputs by a 4-channel SPI MCP3004 10-bit ADC.<\/li>\n<li>Breadboard &#8211; allowing the use of a 170-ping breadboard plus embedded LEDs and switches, as well as 4 x analogue inputs.<\/li>\n<li>DIO32 &#8211; a 32-channel Digital I\/O board with two MCP23017 I2C Port Expanders.<\/li>\n<li>Breakout!+ allows easy access to the I2C, SPI and UART interfaces and includes a small prototyping area for building circuits on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My money for first release is Dtronixs &#8211; they seem like a very small, agile company with a great number of existing boards for the Model B out already.
