#RaspberryPi Model A dimensions/layout different?

Over on the MK Raspberry Jam Forum, there’s been a report that there are subtle millimetre-sized differences between the basic layout of the Model B and Model A. Apparently the USB port on the Model A sticks out about 1mm more than the Model B’s two ports. Has anyone got the patience with a ruler to confirm this, and perhaps make sure that there aren’t any more differences?

Update
Apparently the difference is that the USB port extends 8mm on the A and 7mm on the B. This does not seem to have any effect on cases for the Pi (as no case thus far encloses the port completely). Of course, if someone has a case that does not fit, please comment below!

  1. Mines all boxed up unfortunately but if someone has one it might be worth measuring with a USB dongle plugged as well because I think the USB port might be shallower on the A and thus the dongle will stick out further.

  2. Yep it’s 1mm – the A extends 8mm while the B is 7mm. I can’t see any other noticeable differences, the A fits in all the cases and mounting plates that I got for the B. There are small variances in the fitting of the micro USB and HDMI’s on all the model B’s I have but we’re talking << 0.5mm. Mounting holes are perfectly aligned in both, no real surprise there as the PCBs are the same. One other minor difference I've noticed is between the Chinese and UK manufactured versions whether they are A or B. The black audio jack port on the Chinese models has a more solid front face that provides less space, again about 1mm or so, for an edge clip at that point if you have a case/plate that has one just there.
