Happy Pi Day (March 14th = 3/14, I know it’s American) to everyone who owns, or is interested in, the Raspberry Pi!
I’ll be blogging today about my astronomy project which will eventually use the Raspberry Pi camera module to take pictures of the night sky. So far, it’s just using a USB webcam, so I’ll use that and try to come up with some kind of interface today!

HotPi is a peripheral designed for your Raspberry Pi which will allow you to use any infra-red remote control, send remote control signals to other devices e.g. your television, drive a speed controlled fan, keep the time accurate while the power is turned off, and display the current system status with a multi-colour LED.
Kali Linux, which describes itself as “the most advanced penetration testing distribution, ever” has released a version for the Raspberry Pi. If anyone tries it out, perhaps you’d like to leave a comment on this blog post with your experiences.

The IET, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, has been around for decades in the form of The IEE before merging with the Institution of Incorporated Engineers in 2006.
Their flagship publication, called E&T Magazine focuses this month on the Raspberry Pi, calling it the retro computer of the future.
